Developing a healthy lifestyle is key to adapting long term practices that become a way of life. For cancer survivors, it is important to maintain health and vitality. In this presentation, you will find an abbreviated list of healthy lifestyle choices to improve your lifestyle.

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE TIPS
White Meat Only (fish, chicken breast, turkey breast, pork)
Egg whites
Skim Milk
Nonfat Yogurts
Part-Skim Cheeses- mozzarella, Swiss, etc
Small amounts of olive oil in food preparation. Limit use of butter and other spreads made with olive.
Whole grain foods and legumes (breads, whole grain flour, pastas and noodles, bran cereals, oatmeal cereal, brown rice, wild rice, yellow grits, corn, beans, peas, lentils. Eat unsalted nuts and seeds
Fresh or frozen, raw and steamed vegetables with lunch and dinner
Color, color, color. Include lots of cooked tomatoes in your meals
Enjoy 5 different colors of fruits every day (emphasize berries and other fruits that are red in color)
Eat edible skins of fruits (wash properly -before cooking).
Drink only freshly squeezed juices.
Lots of water, at least 10 or more glasses a day, -preferably distilled water

AVOID OR LIMIT
Avoid soft drinks and sodas
Reduce salt
No junk foods and sweet desserts
No canned meats, vegetables and fruits
BE ACTIVE
Exercise Daily.
